New urban community set to revitalise industrial land

“An old industrial site revitalised into a series of mixed-use high density urban developments, forming a sustainable, cultural and creative urban community,” Wei Haobo, Judge.

Project: Fox Park

Award: Future Projects – Urban, Bronze, 2022

Location: Denver, Colorado, USA

Architect: Tryba Architects

Client: Vita Fox Park Development Team

Fox Park is a 41-acre urban landscape providing a diversity of experiences that fully immerse the cityscape with nature. Interconnected parks and open space integrate culture, community and innovation in a formerly industrial area near Downtown Denver at the crossroads of two major interstate highways.

Terraced into an existing hillside, Fox Park subtly isolates parking and service areas underground to create a harmonious, vertically integrated public realm.

The addition of 14 acres of park and open space will serve to connect Fox Park's many residential, office, hotel and retail spaces, creating an inclusive and sustainable community connected to nature.

Design highlights:

This vibrant mixed-use community will bring together next-generation workspaces, a boutique hotel, event venues, curated retail and urban agriculture. At its heart, an immense former newspaper printing facility will be converted into a World Trade Centre - a vibrant new cultural centre for community learning and education, arts and culture, innovation and fabrication, business and entrepreneurship.
