Green masterplan integrates business and nature

Pangong EBD is a new district which covers a 17.5 square kilometre area, bordering both a historical town, the Han River and the lush Xian Mountains. One of four new districts in Xiangyang it was pinpointed as an exemplary waterfront ecological business district for Middle China. The scheme aims to protect and maintain the area’s rich cultural and ecological assets to create a future-proof city that operates as a financial metropolitan gateway known for its innovation and green economy, and a cultural landmark with a lively, extensive waterfront connecting both the city's history and future.

Design highlights

The design team searched for the unique DNA of the city of Xiangyang to find patterns of urban creation and natural features rooted in the local area. With an ecological base and a human-centred approach, the design responds to the nature, history and future of Xiangyang.
