ACPV Architects design reconfigurable furniture store in Italy

Flexform’s flagship store creates an exhibition space to provide a gallery viewing experience for customers

by Séan Thurgood 07 September 2022

Furniture retailer Flexform is bringing its signature style to the streets of Milan, Italy. With long time partner ACPV Architects, the brand’s goal was to create a display space that would provide an immersive event for visitors.

Over 800 sq m across two floors, the showroom makes use of large reflective windows that provide visitors with a view of the urban landscape. The adjustable LED lights allow for Flexform to create the best ambient lighting depending on the time of day, or mood of staff and shoppers.

Through the use of Vicenza stone and wall finishes designed and executed by Matteo Brioni, and a false ceiling constructed of a painted stretched steel sheet, the design is focused on classic materials that project sturdiness and reliability.

The showroom aims, above all, to inspire an experience. Like in a museum, where visitors come in and enjoy the works of art, our project for Flexform allows clients to fully experience the furnishings and admire the refinement of their details.

Francesca Carlino, architect and partner of ACPV ARCHITECTS

To create this museum-like experience, backlit panels and draperies with graphic designs adorn the walls.
