MixC Ningbo is a 168,000 sq m retail development located near the city’s Central Business District. The flagship property provides a new urban lifestyle destination with a distinctive public realm and experiential design offer.
The brief was to create a destination that prioritises a community-centric approach alongside commerciality, ultimately delivering a sanctuary in the city.
The dynamic multi-level retail development features a 700m street frontage, 24 hour ‘Sky Walk’, inbuilt Ferris Wheel and innovative placemaking strategy to create a compelling and surprising proposition for visitors.
The MixC Ningbo interior architecture is an extension of the exterior, bringing to life an environment that promotes social engagement, discovery, and exploration with features such as the ‘Tree House’ atrium, exhibition plaza, children’s zone, and lifestyle gallery.
Inside the development, two striking ‘Tree Houses’ overlook the main atrium, with a bespoke, winding internal staircase connecting visitors below. Extensive skylights provide visual connectivity to the outdoor entertainment and activities. The design detailing and zoning take on a ripple effect to create different areas of interest throughout the multi-level space.
Four ripples define the interior theming and features:
- ‘Imagination’ - Active and playful for kids and young families
- ‘Celebration’ - Exciting and diverse with a changeable exhibition plaza
- ‘Nature’ - Green and organic with interior gardens
- ‘Desire’ - A youth and lifestyle gallery for the up-and-coming generation
Successful commercial design needs to create moments of intrigue and engagement in physical spaces. As such, the MixC Ningbo interiors bring to life an environment that promotes social engagement, discovery and exploration.
