Pop to the Paper Store in New Delhi, India

Designer Architecture Discipline shift user perception by creating an appealing intervention

by Georgina Johnston 12 October 2020

The site is located in a small hotel on a busy road that has rapidly commercialised. A small space of 12 by 16 m on the ground floor was to be designed to accommodate a fairly unique proposition, a paper store that specialises in customised invitations and stationery. Since there is an artisan-like quality to the making of the paper, the same level of craftsmanship is reflected in the design of the store, making it feel almost like a workshop that one would find in a backyard.

A primary material is adopted and then used in different finishes to create the transition between the outside, where it acts as a visual intervention, to the inside where it acts as the container for the merchandise.
