Award winning Estudio Lamela designs Picasso Towers, a high-end waterfront development set to house 213 luxury residences

After completing Amsterdam’s Schiphol International airport extension and Real Madrid’s Bernabeu football stadium, Carlos Lamela and his firm Estudio Lamela are now working on the high-end Picasso Towers in Malaga, southern Spain. The towers are a turnkey development in Malaga; a city which, in recent years, has undergone a true makeover thanks to Spanish and international investment.

This luxury waterfront development is considered so far to be the best project that has been presented in this Spanish city’s history, and is set to change the heart of Malaga which in the last few years has experienced the fastest growth in Spain, positioning it as one of Europe’s top residential and holiday destinations.

According to Picasso Towers’ leading architect Carlos Lamela, this is the most important project of Spain’s coastline at the moment. This residential development is all about creating diaphanous, fresh architecture that reflects the new life of Malaga.

According to Lamela, Malaga has become one of the greatest cities in Europe and a worldwide example on how a medium sized city can become a reference point on urban change.

The three towers are designed with a vertical structure in order to make the most of the space and to offer a feeling of freedom. All of the residences between 1,421ft² and 4,348ft² will overlook the sea, with views that only a select few can enjoy.

Malaga is a city with 320 days of sun a year, an asset that Picasso Towers has harnessed in both the exterior and interior of the towers via a detailed study measuring sunlight according to seasons and time frames.

The building’s shape was constructed to resemble movement of the nearby waves, achieved by the divergent overlapping of the building’s layers to reflect the natural light and therefore create a dynamic appearance. The developer’s aim was to revamp standard constructions and create something that was striking and would represent the cosmopolitan character of Malaga.

This turn-key residential development will be located next to the Antonio Banderas promenade, named after the Hollywood actor, who endorses this project and who, like the renowned painter Pablo Picasso, was born in Malaga. This magnificent development is to be constructed by leading Spanish real estate company Metrovacesa and Sierra Blanca Estates Developments, the renowned experts in luxury properties in southern Spain.

The first tower will be called Living, and will feature three swimming pools, a premium spa, fitness centre, private cinema, playroom, co-working areas and a nursery, as well as the latest in technology and security.

Buyers are going to be drawn to the exceptional services that will be provided to all owners and residents in Picasso Towers, which are to be the epitome of true luxury residences.

C. Rodriguez, CEO at Sierra Blanca Estates Developments.

More than a quarter of the apartments have already been sold to buyers from Europe and the United States.

They choose Picasso Towers for its high quality, prime location, astonishing sea views, the pleasant Mediterranean climate and the fact that Malaga is the fastest growing city in Spain at the moment.

D. Raya, Land Development Manager at Metrovacesa.

The first residences will be completed by the end of 2021, and the whole development is expected to be completed by 2023.
