A team of experts in high-end retail design including designer Studio Mellone, interior designer Chiara de Rege, and architect Spacesmith collaborated to transform this boutique to better represent the global fashion designer's brand identity.
Originally opened nearly two decades ago, the store was in need of significant renovations and upgrades. The new design for this 6,900 sq ft space is inspired by the fashion designer’s archives and features bright pink hues throughout with seating in shades of pink, fuchsia and turquoise. Pink Venetian plaster walls and glossy ceilings in white allow for the décor’s accents to stand out.
The design team wanted to create a space that encompasses brand identity. Each floor has oversized, comfortable seating in bright, bold colors and coffee tables, adding to the homey feel of the boutique. The Carolina Herrera flagship store offers shoppers different experiences on all three levels with the ground floor presenting the biggest transformation with the installation of a double French door entrance on 75th Street. This floor is dedicated to women’s apparel and incorporates a curving staircase that leads guests up to additional apparel and fragrances on the second floor. On the third level, the bridal salon is adorned with blush-colored furnishings and a custom chandelier made of hundreds of pink Venini art glass flowers.
Outside, the building's new awnings with bold red borders add a splash of color to the restored off-white facade.
Located in a Landmark District, this building required close coordination between Spacesmith, Studio Mellone, and Chiara de Rege, as well as other consultants to meet the requirements on the city's Landmark Preservation Commission review process, as well as accessibility guidelines.
