The new KIPRC will provide a world-class research facility that celebrates this connection, creating an icon that is both futuristic and forward thinking, but ultimately rooted in the land from which it is born.
The X-Space | Urban Greenway, Verform project aims to stitch together the city across Sheikh Zayed Road, the main highway that runs through the United Arab Emirates. The philosophy behind X-Space is to develop an urban fabric focused on sharing, integration and tolerance for human scale urbanism, a place where people can live, work and play. Such urban design should connect spaces with people and cultural practices at the heart of Sheikh Zayed Road with rich visual variety, density, connected network systems and human activities.
Located in the scenic, cultural and commercial heart of Fuzhou city overlooking the famous Wuyi Square, Fuzhou Shangri-La Mixed-use Development, Lead8 is a forward-thinking redevelopment and transformation of an existing high-end hotel, into a new mixed-use, urban resort. Inspired by the rich architectural history, the tag line “Old meets New”, was Lead8’s broad design concept, adapting its design language from the traditional Tulou or roundhouse, the nearby Qing Dynasty White Pagoda, and traditional city gates.
The Younghusband Wool Store Redevelopment, Woods Bagot sets a new benchmark for adaptive reuse projects by challenging the typical approach to property redevelopment. Guided by the principles of Community, sustainability and heritage, the mixed-use rejuvenation respects the rich character of the community and historical precinct. Home to a lively group of small e-commerce start-ups, artists, event organisers and recording studios, the Younghusband community is creative and socially-minded.
The site has a rich history of research and innovation. The proposed redevelopment will facilitate the University’s Melbourne Connect, Woods Bagot, in a strategic location, at the gateway between the Parkville National Employment and Innovation Cluster (NEIC) and the city spine of Swanston Street, north of the CBD. Melbourne Connect seeks to achieve an exemplary and integrated mixed-use precinct that nurtures research and development to deliver a world-class academic workplace, co-located with industry partners and business incubation space.
Over the past twenty years, the Zuidas area has developed into Amsterdam’s main international business centre, resulting in a reduced emphasis on residential development. The Valley - MVRDV is part of the city’s ambition to correct this by transforming the area into a more liveable and complete urban quarter, welcoming large amounts of residents and additional public facilities to the area over the next decade. The concept of the building is rooted in this idea of transition, and MVRDV’s design emphasises the contrast between the corporate history and the more residential future of the Zuidas.
Belatchew Arkitekter, together with Sveafastigheter Bostad, has won a competition to build a new landmark in Hagsätra Centrum, with co-living, co-working, a bicycle workshop and Sweden's smallest cinema. The winning proposal is named Hagsätra hubb - where education, sport and community form Hagsätra's new landmark. A multifunctional meeting place is part of Hagsätra Hub, a place for education, entrepreneurship and art.
