The Rising Stars of architectural integration

Emilia Nuzzaci
12 Aug 2019

Incorporating their surroundings, these up and coming entries demonstrate how important it is to unite architecture and environment.

Based in Shenzhen of China, Yunchao Xu/Atelier Aperion is an international team of creative architects and designers. Their design philosophy and methodology is based on endless thinking, research, and practice towards the origin of architecture. Aiming to re-link their designs with nature and people around them, Atelier Aperion do not restrict themselves to traditional space; but to geometry which helps combine space with human needs.

Shane Thompson Architects  is a small practice working across various project types, where their work is influenced by and relevant to local culture. Working primarily in the tropics and subtropics, an awareness and indigenous approach to suiting the surroundings, climate, and local building practice also informs the work. All projects are approached from first principles and developed by rigorous analysis of the site from varying aspects.

Working to deploy themselves at multiple scales and geographies - from object design to museum architecture, in France and abroad, Lina Ghotmeh Architecture aim to unite its site’s past and memory. Based in Paris, Lina Ghotmeh is a critically acclaimed, international firm of architects, designers, and researchers with a goal of giving their work a dialogue through a heightened sense of materiality.

Founded in 2009, Praxis d'Architecture is actively engaged in a range of projects, from museums and exhibition spaces to offices and artist studios. By adopting a harmonious approach to integrate architecture and its surroundings based on a site’s cultural and physical context, Praxis d’Architecture strive to create extraordinary spatial experiences by using economic, eco-friendly and local materials and available means of construction.
