Coral Bay Show Flat - GWP Architects is an entry in the Future Projects - Commercial category at the 2019 World Architecture News Awards.

The project is located in the middle of a curved beach in the northeast of Koh Samui, Thailand, having a 35,000 square meters construction area including the whole Flying Resort and a Coral Bay Show Flat with 2100 square meters construction area. Using three overhanging eaves to imitate the gesture of flying seagull, and carefululy form the three floor area. The wings become both wall and its roof, forms an elegant sequence of elevation. The simple choice of glass, metal, and concrete enhance the concept of this building. Around the building, there are two landscape axes run through the site, connecting people with building, and to the beach, and provide a fine place for tourists to gather and relax.

The site is located in the middle of a curved beach, look like freely flying birds. With wide open view, it echoes the island nearby.

The main architectural form of the project is "seabirds fly on spreading wings", which applys to all the design details. Using overhanging eaves to imitate the gesture of flying seagull, the most symbolic design concept is generated. The unique design elements make the project a special landscape and a high quality resort in koh samui.
