Urban Twilight - CLUSTER&Associates is an entry in the Residential Care Homes category at the 2019 World Interiors News Awards.

The flat on the 9th floor of condo, situating in the old developed urban area in New Taipei city. The surrounding of the flat is dense by high street and local small food business, which is typical fast and crammed living style in Taiwan. Therefore, we created the ambiance of living in contrast to it, meanwhile slightly connecting to it. The flat is expected to be a hub of cheerful noise with friends and a place to gaze outside through windows, tranquilly.

The client wants to retain the original layout of this 95 sqm flat, which is a slim Z shape, making the character of the space. It is linear, narrow, and long. It is a challenge for making a broad feeling for tenants. Accordingly, the designer provided no walls to cut the continuity of the space. Therefore, interior receives the natural sunlight to illuminate the room for making broad feeling.

This space was transformed by a well-proportioned long facade wall, composed by natural oak wood surface, metal wine shelves, and 5mm thin natural marble slates, which were mounted on TV wardrobe and walls by matte, and polished surface treatments for textural variations. This facade wall defines the continuity of the space by the segments of how different materials meets.

The laser cutting and 3D setting out techniques were introduced to form the folding metal sheet, which, by sophisticated craftsmanship, creates the angulated structure of the dining table, and reflects the natural sunlight in gold shine.
