2019 WIN Awards: Gymshark - Oktra

Gymshark - Oktra is an entry in the Corporate Offices category at the 2019 World Interiors News Awards.

Oktra collaborated with Gymshark to design and build one of the best offices in the world, delivering their 42,000 sq ft workspace in April 2018.

Oktra had a bold vision for a new, cutting-edge workspace for Gymshark’s head office. Gymshark is one of the fastest growing companies of all time, and they needed a building that would accommodate their rapid growth and attract future talent.

We took our time to understand Gymshark’s culture, brand and DNA, in order to design a space that embodies their identity and beliefs, and inspires everyone to work at their best. We stripped back the recently refurbished building to produce a large, open plan front-of-house space which brings all of the floors together.

From amphitheatre bleachers to product testing rooms to a nutritionally controlled eating facility, Gymshark’s DNA is embedded in every element of the innovative design. The space allows Gymshark to choose how, when and where they work by offering a range of working settings. Each area is designed for a different type of task and centres on enhancing wellbeing. The stand-out feature is a 30-m wide Gymshark logo in the courtyard area. It can be viewed on Google Earth and acts as an additional outdoor seating area for the Gymshark team.

The design and architecture of the space manages to achieve two contrasting effects: the lines and angles of the interior are designed to energise and be dramatic, and yet Gymshark find there is an incredible sense of calm and serenity inside.
