In need of a space to accommodate their growing staff, Spin Master engaged iN STUDIO as interior designer and consultant for their new 100,000 square-foot headquarters in Toronto. The global toy and entertainment company wanted a fully customized workspace that reflected their company culture. The resulting design reveals Spin Master’s story in an engaging way, while simultaneously serving as an incubator for the ideas that are hatched in their office every day.
Throughout the office, the past, present, and future of Spin Master comes alive through a wayfinding “ribbon” that begins in the ground floor reception and weaves through the six-floor workspace. The path features various installations that are a reminder of Spin Master’s history - including interactive technology, three-dimensional installations, historical artifacts, and product displays - set against a backdrop of unique finishes and custom graphics.
iN STUDIO also drew inspiration from the client’s product line-up. For example, the show-stopping “Block Stack” playfully brings to life a stack of wooden toy building blocks in the form of a statement staircase. Open areas for team brainstorms are featured throughout, along with a cafe and town hall area for larger staff meetings. Photo and video studios, a 3D printing lab and model building shop are available for creative teams.
iN STUDIO’s commitment to an environmentally responsible approach is reflected throughout their entire materials library. Additionally, biophilia was a vital part of the design for this project; a variety of plants were integrated throughout adding color and providing a connection with nature.
