The predecessor of the project was five factory buildings built in the 1960s and 1990s. The building is in the core position of the general park and is intended to be transformed into a public design art center.
The principle of design is to emphasize contrast and juxtaposition: the steel structure of the main entrance forms a towering shape; The oblique roof shape comes from the glass skylight at the top of the first letter A of Art, "A", so that the black towering space does not appear depressing. "A" and the window shape of the outer facade D, C forms the acronym of "Art Design Center", the design uses pop's technique to insert the new structure form, and the original retained roof, the wall surface has formed the strong age and the material new and old contrast. The outer wall retains the decoration marks of each age without any treatment.
The design opens the two-span column net in the middle of the facade and inserts a central art spindle running through five parallel ridges, thus connecting several exhibition halls on both sides. The local roof of the spindle is opened to form an open atrium, while the steel or wood truss structure at the top is retained, and the light and shadow of the truss are projected on the walls on both sides of the spindle during the day.
