Hong Kong West Kowloon Station - Aedas is an entry in the Transport category at the 2019 World Architecture News Awards.

Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, one of the largest below-grade rail terminuses in the world, maximizes civic gestures both externally and internally.

The design includes a vast 20-meter-deep sunken atrium hall space that offers views through the south façade of the station toward the central district of Hong Kong and beyond to Victoria Peak, giving travelers an immediate impression that they have arrived.

This view is facilitated by the exterior ground surface that slopes down toward the hall – an area called ‘Civic Plaza’ – and an accessible green roof that gestures toward the harbor, the height reaches 25 meters above ground.

The World Architecture News Awards showcase the best international design in both current and future projects. Entries for the 2019 Awards are now open - for further information and to submit your entry please click here.
