The core concept behind designing La Strega was to create a casual Italian pizzeria that would be appealing not only for the guests staying at Le Royal Meridien, but also for local residents. The designers at LW clearly understood that this restaurant would have to be designed in a way that it reflected the authenticity of its Italian menu in the ambience.
In line with the essence of the restaurant, a focal illuminated shelving design was created in the center of the restaurant, that allowed view into the kitchen. Instead of having the traditional open-kitchen concept, this restaurant offers only a limited sneak peek into the food preparation area, thereby lending a feeling of sitting in an Italian home. To add to the homely feel, the balcony area is kept covered.
The existing void between the two floors of the building was filled in to create a tasteful and catchy terrace area. The décor is kept classic, with a pairing of veined marble flooring and timber flooring, saddle leather in neutral and earthy hues, and adding the cut edge effect next to an otherwise plain concrete to add drama. Overall, the design perfectly complements the rattan detailing and wrought iron FF&E. Custom-made furniture adds to the local appeal and has been sourced from Tekhne and Proj. Interiors.
LW has managed to bring the homely Italian ambience to the forefront of this project and created cozy and inviting interiors. With crisp and spaced-out seating arrangement.
