Located on the rugged Oregon Coast, Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa is a singular destination for the adventure traveler. The lodge celebrates Oregon-style hospitality, offering visitors luxe amenities against the backdrop of sand-dune mountains and iconic Haystack Rock.
The clients are long-time residents and wanted to offer an authentic hospitality experience that would go beyond the expected B&B sensibilities found in nearby coastal hamlets.
Headlands features 33 oceanfront suites; an ‘ocean to table’ restaurant and bar, and a state-of-the-art fitness boutique. The design embraces the local landscape with an aesthetic and sentiment that is uniquely Pacific City. Guests are greeted by a raging wood fire and social serpentine leather sectional, and the lodge-like feeling extends into the bar and dining area, which features sheepskin touches and modern furnishings. A larger two-sided fireplace screens off an indoor sunroom that opens to provide a sunny overlook of the Pacific.
Inspired by the adventurous spirit of the Pacific Northwest, each space of this retreat was carefully designed to achieve a balance of elegance and ruggedness, natural and contemporary. A branching chandelier, driftwood sculptures, and wood details pay homage to the forest and beach that surround the property. Guestrooms celebrate the views of Haystack Rock from balconies and colorful fireplace seating nooks, and feature reclaimed wood and black iron walls in a variety of combinations. Each room features an entry wall for bikes and surfboards, and a cast-iron soaking tub with views of the ocean, a simple invitation to ‘be here now’.
