It is 100 years since this building stood in the Qianmen, the center of Beijing. Archistry Design & Research reconstructed the building into a secret bar hidden in the Hutong.
Choosing concrete to build an arch façade, the designer washed the arch concrete template when the concrete set, and combined in second floor façade. Using the wood combined with the comprehensive materials to make the semi-circular box railing, the lighting inside is from a circular light.
People enter through the small glass hallway into the lobby of the bar. All the materials were handmade to avoid using modern materials. The designer removed the decorations and carefully excavated and organized the scene, filled in the "loopholes" of space with modern materials.
From the lobby, people travel through the corridor, and the space suddenly opens up, reaching the courtyard. The word "Quad House" mean a private place surrounded in a square area of land surrounded by houses on each side.
Up the stairs, reaching the second floor and turning to the south, there is a large independent private room with the steel structure to reinforce and build the second floor. Turning north on the second floor there is a balcony and from here people can see the ancient Qianmen tower, the Great Hall of the People, the CBD building which will be 500 meters higher, giving people a little surreal, unique and imaginative view.
