Edwardian Hotels London has appointed Charles Oak to manage world’s first super boutique hotel, The Londoner. Set to open in Spring 2020 in the legendary Leicester Square, the 15 storey hotel will transform the London scene.

With several previous senior management positions in numerous hotels owned by the Edwardian Hotels London - including five-star, The May Fair Hotel - Charles is a highly established professional within the industry. His exemplary background includes positions at Hotel de Crillon in Paris, The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, The Savoy Hotel in London, and more recently, Heckfield Place in Hampshire. As an expert in hospitality for almost three decades, Charles will run the £300m property, using his ideal experiences of establishing new restaurants and members clubs - such as The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle.

Charles attended the University of Westminster and completed the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Recently, Charles has been made an FIH Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality for recognition of his successful career.

“Charles is passionate and determined. He is the perfect leader for The Londoner and will be leading and developing a team of up to 600 talented people as we prepare to open this incredible development.” - Jasminder Singh OBE, Chairman of Edwardian Hotels London.

The new role for the hotel will include being responsible for looking after the tone and character of The Londoner. The boutique hotel will offer intimate luxury through its elegant rooms and social spaces. With six levels below ground for bespoke event and meeting spaces, and nine storeys above for guests suites, the hotel will be made up of 350 luxury bedrooms, including three phenomenal panoramic tower penthouses. Guests will have the choice of six concept eateries or a rooftop bar that serves cocktails and Japanese-inspired small plates. The subterranean levels also include a ballroom that will accommodate up to 864 guests, a spa and wellness centre, a swimming pool and two Odeon cinemas available for private hire.

“The Londoner is an exciting, ambitious development in the heart of the capital. Completely unlike any other hotel in the city and set to transform the hospitality scene, it will embrace the drama and heritage of the West End. I feel privileged to be creating a world-class landmark for our guests and employees.” - Charles Oak, The Londoner.

Edwardian Hotels London is a privately-owned hotel group, operating and developing upscale luxury hotels.
