VillaVOON - Strohecker Architects is an entry in the Future Projects - Leisure category at the 2019 World Architecture News Awards.

VillaVOON was initiated as a research project for Strohecker Architects, with the basic idea to build a fully ecological and sustainable dwelling unit out of a single material – wood. It is aimed at providing a biologically sound alternative to holiday residences in the luxury segment.

The complete production as well as the assembly process are done in accordance with strict ‘green building’ specifications. No chemical adhesives, synthetic building materials or metal parts are used, and carefully selected materials for construction favour those that make the most efficient use of resources.

Recycled and localy sourced wood was preferred, as well as bio-based materials that break down safely in the environment once they are no longer in use.

Furthermore, the project is universally applicable and scalable. This aspect is achieved by flexibility of singular units through their modular character. Each unit comprises of single wooden frames, which are the backbone of the project. These frames (a patented product) can be added or subtracted according to clients’ functional needs as well as aesthetical preferences. A number of parameters which define the buildings outer and inner limits, can be easily fine-tuned in close collaboration with a potential clients desires.

Strohecker Architects focus on the joint implementation of the visions of their customers through accompanying and supporting them with modern and contemporary architectural impulses. To find out more, click here.
