WAN Future Projects Transport Award 2017 Shortlist Announced

Tuesday 17 Oct 2017

Four diverse projects selected for the Future Projects Transport Award shortlist

Now in its second year, the WAN Future Projects Transport Award 2017 was founded to celebrate excellence in ‘design only’ projects, welcoming innovative entries that demonstrate vision and progressive thinking.

This year’s jury chosen for their expertise within this sector were: Peter Chamley, Global Infrastructure Practice Chair at Arup, Catherine Hallett, Sponsorship Director for the Roads Improvement Programme at Highways England and Jon Tollit, Design Director and Principal, ARB, FRSA, LEED® AP NC at Gensler.

Shortlist listed in no particular order:

Jazeera Airwarys Terminal, in Kuwait City, Kuwait by Pace

The Jazeera Airways Airport Terminal aims to both alleviate the current overcrowding at Kuwait International Airport and meet the requirements of travelers in Kuwait for many more years to come.

Luton MPT, in London, United Kingdom by Arup Associates

Luton Airport MPT, is a state-of-the-art mass passenger transit system linking two new stations: Luton Airport Parkway station and London Luton Airport.

Oslo Central Station was once the gateway to the City from the East. The immediate release into the main city boulevard and promenade towards the Royal Palace in the West had a grandeur and clarity long lost.

Dalian Harbour International Cruise Terminal, in Dalian, China by Woods Bagot

Dalian Pier, anchored by the new 33,800m2 International Cruise Terminal, seeks inspiration for the design from the city, its history, its people, its geography, and its culture. In an effort to symbolize the city’s heritage, the design is informed by the city’s strong connection to water and finds innovative ways for users to experience the water’s edge.

WAN AWARDS would like to thank the jury and congratulate all four finalists in the WAN Future Projects Transport Award 2017.

The winner of this category will be announced on the 28th February 2018 at our prestigious WAN AWARDS 2017 Event.
