A+D museum reopens in a revamped warehouse in the vibrant Downtown Los Angeles Arts District

Recently, World Architecture News was present at the A+D ‘Architecture + Design’ museum gala which was also the museum’s grand reopening in its new home in a warehouse-turned-museum in the vibrant Downtown Los Angeles Arts District.

The centre piece of the evening was a silent auction of custom-designed pieces created by architecture and design luminaries from the city of Angeles; Many of them are familiar WAN award winners and jurors: Benjamin Ball of Ball and Nogues studio , Alvin Huang of Synthesis Design + Architecture, Jennifer Marmon of Platform for Architecture + Research, and Mehrdad Yazdani of Canon Design Yazdani Studio.

A+D is a unique museum in Los Angeles. It is devoted expressly to the exhibition of progressive architecture and design in the city. The museum opened its doors in January 2001 in the Bradbury Building, one of downtown Los Angeles’ premiere landmark buildings. It moved to a space on Wilshire Boulevard across from LACMA ‘Los Angeles County Museum of Art’, another landmark museum in Los Angeles. A+D just has just returned to downtown LA this summer.

We invite you to visit the city of Los Angeles through this short video produced by A+D Museum. It shows highlights of design and architecture in the city as explained by some of its most influential artists and architects:
