A high-tech, energy efficient family home has completed in a village close to the Czech capital of Prague, to a design by Jestico+Whiles. The five-bedroom residence has been finished with a contemporary aesthetic and integrated sustainable features, and retains a warm, family-centred feel.

The core of the residence can be found in the kitchen, dining and lounge areas which are grouped together on the ground floor. Tactile materials such as timber, leather and marble can be found throughout, with stunning elements such as a floating triple-height oak staircase adding further warmth and design flair.

Natural lighting is achieved through the integration of a window mosaic on the north façade and a grand skylight which draws sunlight deep into the home. Set on the second floor, this skylight breaks up the façade and acts as a marker separating the master wing from the children’s wing.

A large volume of glass at ground level provides expansive views out over the landscaped gardens and towards a separate garage for the owner’s car collection. Similar in form to a professional showroom, this stand-alone block is a luxurious addition to the modern home.

High-tech functionality can be found throughout the residence, such as button-less technology in the kitchen, running carbonated water, and a weather station which feeds live data to the automated temperature control.

Triple glazing is employed throughout the development and heat pumps combine with solar panels to provide cooling, heating and hot water. Balcony overhangs and a cantilevered roof ensure that the interior spaces do not overheat despite the curated natural lighting and the building features a highly-insulated shell to reduce heat loss.
