Spanish creative consultancy Masquespacio have just finished their latest international project, based in the Norwegian capital of Oslo. This consisted of producing both the interior design and the branding for Vino Veritas, an ecological restaurant specialising in organic wines and tapas of Spanish origin.
Vino Veritas is part of the eminent ecological winery, Cortijo El Cura, which has its origins in the Andalusian region ‘La Alpujarra'. The restaurant introduces organic Spanish gastronomy into the cosmopolitan city of Norway. Masquespacio wished to maintain the essence of Norwegian interiors, using natural wood walls and ceilings painted in white and a solid oak floor. However, it was also crucial for the Norwegian architecture to blend in a natural and comfortable way with Spanish culture, particularly Andalusian culture.
Traditional Spanish craftsmanship pervades the restaurant's interior; decorative features include old Andalusian balcony railings, baskets and blinds made of esparto grass, lamps crafted from raffia, esparto and cord and Spanish clay tiles. Plants in hanging baskets and a bold chair colour provide a green element to the restaurant, referring to its organic nature. The solid oak wood used for the furniture offers elegancy, while the cushions designed by Masquespacio highlight the art-deco feeling of the place.
Ana Milena Hernández Palacios comments: "It was important for us to highlight characteristics like the ecology and craftsmanship of Andalusia that were marked significantly by the business model of Vino Veritas. Although we wanted to take in count the beauty of the Norwegian architecture and always thinking in designing an elegant and warm, but at the same time inviting space, for a wider public looking for the Spanish culture and gastronomy."
