AIA Chicago names Goettsch Partners as 2013 Firm of the Year for 'significant positive impact on our profession'

2013 has been an exciting year for Goettsch Partners (GP). The firm has completed its transformation of Mies van der Rohe’s IBM building into the Langham Chicago, secured a pair of major mixed-use schemes in Foshan and Suzhou for Greenland Group, won a competition to design the Zurich Headquarters with Clayco and CannonDesign, had its Sowwah Square scheme in Abu Dhabi crowned Best Tall Building in the Middle East and Africa by the CTBUH and received LEED Gold Certification for Astellas’ new Headquarters for the Americas.

It is little wonder therefore that GP has been recognised as the 2013 Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Chicago chapter. This award is given in light of outstanding achievements, consistent excellence and contributions to the advancement of the profession. The jury was particularly impressed by GP’s global impact, praising the international aspects of the team’s portfolio.

"The principles and mission of GP are clearly stated and executed with unwavering conviction and consistency across every design challenge,” the jury commented. “Bold ideas reinforced by an obsessed attention to detail have been a hallmark of the firm since its inception. GP has set the bar high for this significant recognition and is well deserving of this honor."
