Henning Larsen Architects' Faroe Islands scheme expanded with residential schemes

In 2012, Henning Larsen Architects won the competition for Klaksvík City Center in the Faroe Islands. Two residential projects in Tórshavn and Klaksvík have now been added to the list of projects in the Islands, where Henning Larsen Architects is now opening an office.

The 4,000 sq m residences in Klaksvík, within Henning Larsen Architects' own master plan from 2012, will be situated around the central urban plaza. The development of the building project marks the first step in the realisation of the new city centre.

The other residential project won by the office covers 20 houses in the Oman Mattalag district in Tórshavn. The detailed design of the project is already moving ahead.

Under the management of Architect and Associate Partner Ósbjørn Jacobsen, the Faroe Islands office will constitute the basis of Henning Larsen Architects' work in the North Atlantic.

Ósbjørn has been responsible for developing the concept designs of several large international projects, including the award-winning Harpa - Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Centre, for which he was stationed on-site in Iceland from 2008 until the summer of 2011.
