Geyer recently completed the 18-month project at the Southbank offices of the Herald & Weekly Times, home to the staff of the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun, mX, The Weekly Times and other News Limited publications including Vogue Australia, Inside Out and Donna Hay magazine.
The modern 470m2 café, lounge and meeting space, the outcome of an innovative and collaborative design project between the two companies, now allows staff to connect with each other like never before. The space signifies new ways of working at HWT as they traditionally operate in silos;  departments are separated geographically across more than 10 floors of HWT Tower, which is a real impediment to cross-departmental collaboration.
Geyer won a competitive tender to deliver the project and led the select group of staff from a variety of departments through a series of workshops designed to explore the best outcome for the space. The workshops enabled Geyer to determine the exact requirements and expectations for the new floor.
The space includes a shared work and meeting space, café/bar area, and a business lounge. Each zone includes varied, yet complementary, furniture, finishes, planting and lighting to create a series of environments within the space.
In a nod to the publisher's past, Geyer incorporated historically significant HWT artefacts in the design to remind staff of the company's rich history in fostering creativity and to highlight that Our Space on 3 was an evolution of this commitment. Our Space on 3 also includes integrated mobile and digital technology to allow for flexible working.
