New-build housing scheme in London's Paddington Basin achieves planning

A new build residential scheme of 88 homes in Paddington Basin has formally received planning consent from Westminster City Council. The high density scheme for CityWest Homes is designed by architects Child Graddon Lewis and provides a full range of tenures and apartment sizes with great emphasis on providing larger affordable units as well as commercial, community and retail uses.

Situated within Paddington Basin, on North Wharf Road, the proposals introduce sustainable technologies to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 4, with roof spaces landscaped to maximise the provision of amenity and play space.

James Felstead, Director at Child Graddon Lewis commented that: "Paddington Basin has undergone a dramatic transformation over recent years. This scheme completes one of the missing pieces of the jigsaw, along with other recent consents such as the Community School site nearby. The vibrant mix of uses will help to further enliven the area, broadening the make-up of the local community. Paddington Basin is becoming more than just a place where people work."
