Plans for a £350m high-rise scheme - comprising a 55-storey tower rising above a 13-storey podium - at One Lansdowne Road in Croydon have been approved (subject to S106 being signed) by London Borough of Croydon, following a council vote.
The 200m tall project, designed by CZWG, is the latest in a series of proposals that are set to transform Croydon town centre as part of one of the UK’s most dynamic regeneration programmes, which will see £3.5bn of investment injected into the area.
Guildhouse-Rosepride LLP is a partnership between local South London developer Rosepride Properties Ltd and national development and investment company, Guildhouse UK. The partnership was established to bring forward proposals for a £350m mixed-use scheme in the centre of Croydon, One Lansdowne Road.
One Lansdowne Road is located in the heart of Croydon town centre. The innovative design includes a 217 bedroom four-star-hotel, 397 residential apartments, 16,756 sq m (net) Grade A office space, as well as a café/bar, brassiere, coffee shop, branded restaurant and health club.
With a range of uses at ground floor level the scheme will bring vibrancy to this important link between East Croydon rail station, the Whitgift Centre and West Croydon station. The public realm around the scheme will also be much-enhanced including a new pedestrian piazza and widened pavements to connect with the proposed at grade crossing of Wellesley Road. A further 40 low-rise residential units will be provided off site.
CZWG’s Piers Gough explains: “The design celebrates this most prominent of sites at the epicentre of the town. The mixed uses of the tower and the surrounding landscape re-imagines the liveability of central Croydon and gives it a gorgeous memorable image.”
