RTKL Designs World's First JW Marriott Marquis: Five-Star Urban Luxury for Bold New Brand
The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, a new 450,000-SF property in downtown Miami, reflects a bold new brand and five-star guest experience. Offering 257 rooms and 56 suites, the hotel was designed and developed based on three key attributes: privileged, pampered and plugged-in.
The design scheme appeals to selective travelers, highlighting exceptional guest services and amenities, outstanding views, and cutting-edge technologies. Crafted using natural materials, fabrics and furnishings, the hotel conveys a sense of welcome and features a two-floor entertainment complex, 10,000-SF NBA-approved basketball court, infinity pool, ultramodern fitness center, virtual bowling alley, 20,000-SF ballroom, and the Jim McLean Golf School with putting greens and virtual golf simulators.
In-room conveniences include personal connectivity panels with multiple technology features and the ability to connect personal technology devices to each room’s sizeable LCD flat screen. Designed in a neutral palette of brown, gold and cinnamon-color accents, guestrooms feature extensive built-in Mahogany woodwork, hand-woven Axminster carpets, and classic furnishings reminiscent of a European hotel. The custom woodwork includes expansive wall units with built-in curved desks, headboards and closets.
The neutral tones of the guestrooms and furnishings are accented by the carpet’s oversized pattern, making a strong, bold statement. Lighting effects feature soft down lights at the entry and in the bathrooms, wall sconces for the bathroom vanity, decorative nightstand lamps, and built-in reading lights on headboards. Bathrooms feature solid gold-colored marble counters with carved-in sinks and polished Giallo Noce stone showers and baths.
