Publicly Accessible Buildings

Celebrating architecture, sustainably

We are delighted to announce an exciting addition to the 2012 WAN AWARDS programme, the ECOWAN AWARD.

by sam 09 November 2011 Sustainable Buildings

In this exciting new category, every entry to the WAN AWARDS will automatically be entered for the ECO AWARDS.

This will draw entries from all award sectors and categories (excluding interiors) hence creating the largest and most comprehensive sustainable awards in architecture.

How will it work? If your practice enters a school into the architecture category for example, it will be judged in the normal way, but in addition, projects with strong ECO credentials will be green flagged and whatever the outcome in the education award, it will be included in the long list for the ECOWAN awards. At the end of the year, an amazing long list will have accumulated, made up from the whole architecture spectrum.

Early in 2013, the ECOWAN will jury will sit to vet the entries. The remit will be detailed when the awards open but it is expected to focus on projects that have embraced the fundamentals of sustainability while still delivering original and exciting architecture.

There will be no extra charge for projects entered into the WAN AWARDS, but projects that are entered only for the ECO AWARD will be required to pay entry fees in the normal way.
