It may be closing in on Facebook as the world’s favourite social media site, but in business terms the jury is still out on how effective Twitter can be as a commercial outlet. At WAN we have three Twitter accounts - @worldarchnews for our Newsfeed, @WANawards for the latest news and tips in our Awards Programme and @WANJobs for global job vacancies in the architecture, design and engineering industries - and whilst these offer a quick and easy outlet for up-to-the-minute news, when it comes to networking for architects and designers, the world of Twitter can be a daunting place.
Mark Schumann, of Davis Langdon’s Dubai office and Su Butcher, Practice Manager at Ipswich-based architects Barefoot & Gilles, serial blogger and former contributor to WAN’s News Review, have teamed up aid those design professionals still baffled by the 140-character world of Twitter.
Three weeks ago the duo launched the Architect Twitter Map, a global Google map of architects around the world who are prominent on Twitter, and have already racked up some impressive stats with over 47,000 views and 300 architects signed up to their programme. The Map enables experienced or amateur Twitter users to select new feeds to follow in order to keep up with the relevant news in a given sector or region, or simply discover new business contacts. Careful not to limit their target demographic, an additional map is also in the works aimed at manufacturers and suppliers, with news of the Map going viral on multiple social networking sites.
Access the site directly by clicking here and when tweeting news of the Architect Twitter Map remember to use the hashtag #ArchitectMap.
