Over the last few hundred years, the secluded property has played the role of watchtower, religious settlement and farm, collecting many historical treasures throughout its lifetime. Developers Ultissimo Ltd have painstakingly refurbished the existing building with entirely reclaimed materials, retaining the historic charm of the property whilst bringing past features to life – such as the fresco in the chapel which has been restored to reveal the original 17th century religious detail and 15th century artwork beneath.
Alongside these ancient elements are small luxuries such as expansive beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors, open fireplaces and sophisticated bathrooms, offset by modernised sustainable features. Rainwater is recycled into the irrigation system and all water supplies are spring-fed, with a large tank to store water. The new doors in the property have been made from recovered doors which are several hundred years old; such is the case with the replacement timber ceiling beams and stone used for repairs.
