Gaus Architekten devise residential competition entry for Neustädtischer Kirchplatz, Berlin

The plot is located in the heart of Berlin, next to Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor and the city’s most significant road ‘Unter den Linden’. The project itself is situated in a rectangular block, typical for the old part of the city, with half of the area used as parkland (new build in 2010). The concept design centres on a 77m x 47m structure with an overall building height of 24 m.

It is mainly used as high class residential condominium building with units from 120 sq m to 220 sq m including large roof terraces. The complete construction has been designed with low energy consumption, triple glass panes and modern ventilation systems using heat recovery techniques. The heating system is based on remote heating. A double basement will serve as parking and storage area. It is hoped that the building will be erected in 2010-2012 with respect to requirements by the local authorities.
