Enfield Council appoints LDA Design to deliver Meridian Water

Enfield Council, working with the Homes and Communities Agency, the Greater London Authority, the London Development Agency, Transport for London, Design for London and other key partners has appointed LDA Design’s award winning team in partnership with Beyond Green, Atkins and BNP Paribas Real Estate to deliver the proposals for Meridian Water, a new eco-community of 5000 homes and 3000 new jobs in the heart of North London.

John Phillipps, partner of LDA Design said: “Our vision is hugely ambitious but deliverable. An internally focused masterplan, centred on dynamic waterscapes will support a modern One Planet Living eco-community. Transformational change, coupled with a ground-breaking approach to sustainability will help to fashion a dramatic new identity for Meridian Water. LDA Design will be exploring ways to remodel the River Lea’s urban landscape as well as creating a healthy living corridor along the Lea Valley, which together will foster a distinctive character for this soon to be rediscovered part of London.”

Sue Foster OBE, Enfield Council’s Director of Place Shaping & Enterprise who led the appointment panel for the Masterplan said: “Whilst we had a series of excellent submissions for delivering the Masterplan, LDA Design’s exciting proposals for the future of Meridian Water captured the imagination of the panel and showed a real understanding of the design and scale of opportunity in Enfield. We’re looking forward to working with their team to develop the plans for the creation of this new eco neighbourhood, and to help us deliver real and sustainable change for this part of North London.”
