The top five projects proved to be some of the most controversial throughout the year with Dorobanti Tower described as 'inappropriate' and 'a spectacle of egotism' by some commentators and second placed Šolta Island resort by Richard Hywel Evans Architecture provoking much debate over its credentials and location. The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, coming in third, received a more supportive audience described in such single words as 'wonderful' and 'awesome'.
The range of projects spanned the globe from Graft Architects' Bird Island house in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Calatrava's Liège-Guillemins TGV Railway Station in Liège, Belgium and varied enormously in size from the giant Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi to the tiny Burnham Pavilion
Zaha's featured projects included the Port House addition to the existing Port Authority HQ in Antwerp, the Stone Towers office complex in Cairo, and Regium Waterfront - Museum of the Mediterranean in Reggio Calabria, Italy.
Congratulations to all of the Top 100 projects.
