Ada Shopping Center, owned by Corio, is the first shopping center in Adapazari; designed as a part of the regeneration project. The design stage, begun in 2005, aimed to be the new social and recreational area situated in a newly-developing district of the city. Ada has been open since January, 2008. After completion of the project, there occurred a positive change of development in the surrounding environment of shopping center. The mall consists of 81 shops with a total GLA of 25,045 sq m. The anchor shops are Carrefour (5,883 sq m), Tekzen (1,940 sq m), Cinemars (2.820 sq m), C&A (1,700 sq m) and Teknosa (1,244 sq m). The foodcourt area consists of 13 shops, and it has a terrace overlooking the avenue and the landscaping.The mall has 3 pedestrian entrances designed with a distinctive approach to create a warm atmosphere through the building configuration and materials, while the facades facing the industrial areas are constructed industrial building materials. At the planning of the center, it is intended to create social gathering spaces. A large public square is designed at the main entrance of the building for gathering and recreational purposes. The main design criteria are guided by the shape of the land plot, the relationship with the environment and the function relations. The circular surface, which links people to the boomerang shaped atrium, is designed to welcome shoppers who are aiming upscale shopping whereas side entrance is designed to attract hypermarket customers with caddies, separating them clearly from each other.
The main atrium is the focus of attention and serves as a sociable gathering space. The center is planned with a triangular flow scheme; the flow expressed in the interior and the framework of the roof. Controlled light is obtained at the interior by the indirect light passing through to the atrium from the sides of the roof.
