Patrik Schumacher joins Commercial jury

Zaha Hadid Architects Partner joins prestigious awards panel line-up

Patrik Schumacher, Partner at Zaha Hadid Architects and Founding Director at the AA Design Research Lab, is to chair the WAN AWARDS 09 panel for the Commercial Sector. Having joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 1988, Schumacher is now extremely highly regarded within the company as the key architect at Hadid's side.

Schumacher founded the 'Design Research Laboratory' with Brett Steele in 1996 and is an accomplished writer, theorist and teacher, also working as a tenured Professor at the Institute for Experimental Architecture in Innsbruck. WAN welcome him in joining the dozens of architecture professionals and persons of relevance helping to make WAN AWARDS one of the fastest growing and most significant awards programmes globally.

Schumacher will head up the 13-strong Commercial Sector award jury which will meet in the coming weeks to deliberate over the best built and unbuilt projects from around the world. The Commercial Panel represents a concentration of the best international talent and influential figures within the architecture profession. The panel is comprised:

The deadline for entry to the award is fast approaching - entry will close on 31 October. The winner will receive a £1000 cash prize and be featured in a series of articles on WAN which are normally picked up by national and international media.
