For nearly 200 years, from 1780-1973, the Bank was protected every night by a military detachment called the Bank Guard. Now, in a spectacularly candid gesture, the Old lady will open her doors for one day in June and one weekend in September, to the prying eyes of the public. As part of the City of London Festival, 30-minute guided behind-the-scenes guided tours will take visitors through the Bank, including the Front Hall, Garden Court, the Monetary Policy Committee’s meeting room and the Court Room, pictured here.
No booking is necessary for the tours which will take place on 20 June, and 19 & 20 September, 9.30am-5pm. (With last entry 4.30pm)
