VicUrban development one of 16 in Climate Positive Development Program

VicUrban is the Victorian Government’s sustainable urban living agency in Australia. Currently progressing in 21 locations across Victoria are communities with high level sustainability, one of which has just been awarded the support of the USGBC and Cinton Climate Initiative’s Climate Positive Development Program.

VicUrban @ Officer, is located in Melbourne’s south east corridor. Currently the open land is being transformed into a vibrant residential and retail precinct with large parkland and wetlands. The scheme employs the VicUrban standards of environmental consideration which include energy efficiency and responsible use of energy, Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) which conserves and manages water, biodiversity and the control of ozone-depleting substances during construction to positively assist health and the atmosphere.

The VicUrban initiative attempts to integrate sustainable solutions for living together with excellence in design and commercial viability. The overall scheme has achieved four Australian awards so far, two for landscape, one for urban design and one for the Melbourne Docklands’ (also a VicUrban project) ESD Guide.
