High density residential development provides 50% affordable housing

Located midway between the new Olympic stadium and Canary Wharf, this new development will create a mixed-use community which will sit on a 0.61 hectare site opposite a large park.

This project will provide 182 residential units and 8,073 sq ft (750 sq m) start up units. 50% of the residential units are affordable homes across a wide spectrum of unit types including 10% capable of being fully wheelchair accessible. All units will have access to the canalside and those situated on the bank have been specially designed to enjoy the view over the canal. Family units have been sited at ground floor level with excellent access to a series of landscaped courtyards.

The landmark element of the scheme has been addressed with a 12-storey tower at the junction of the canal and bridge, which is orientated towards a diagonal route through the park opposite and sets up a North/South geometry which generates distant views to and from the site.

This is a fitting landmark development, which acts as a symbol of regeneration within East London and as a statement of intent to provide the highest possible standard of homes by Genesis Housing Group.

The scheme has received high praise from the GLA and Tower Hamlets. Planning approval was granted in March 2007 and the scheme is to be completed in summer 2009.
