New London club sets trend for mobile community

Designers of Babington House, London based Michaelis Boyd Associates, have just completed One Alfred Place, a business club in central London.

Babington House, a converted Georgian pile in the Wiltshire countryside, was a trend setting destination when opened in 1998 to service the capital’s media industry. There had been nothing like it, a unique blend of comfort, impeccable style serviced by professional but unpretentious staff. Nicknamed Metro Cool, the Babington ambiance has been brought to central London with this new kind of club that combines the best of a private members’ club with your own London office.

Glass lifts take you up two floors to a stylish, spacious interior filled with bespoke furniture and stunning contemporary art in which to network, hold meetings, work and relax.

A quick glance around to check out the occupants reveal that this is laptop city. One Alfred Place has been born out the increasing requirement for spaces for migrant workers desperate to catch up with emails between meetings and flights.
