COX ARCHITECTS ™ completes the Manly Residence in Brisbane

The residence is located on top of a ridge at Manly (a seaside town east of Brisbane) overlooking a yacht harbour and marina on Moreton Bay.The brief included the provision of four car parking spaces and disabled access for elderly relatives. This created a challenge because the site was very narrow in width. The constrained site and restricted circulation led to the incorporation of a system of ramps located around a water feature in a secure but roofed external courtyard. The aim was to provide a welcoming area to pass through within the residence offering glimpses of water views and one which took advantage of the breezes available for cooling in the sub tropical environment. The remainder of the residence was stacked on four levels with each level taking advantage of the splendid views of the harbour and distant hills.
