Radical concept for Hong Kong University

Woods Bagot designs radical new concept for Hong Kong University

06 December 2007
The winning design concept for the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) was proposed by Woods Bagot, and is the first time Australian designers have won a tender against the international community of architects in the education sector.
The design has been created through Woods Bagot’s ‘design intelligence’ approach, combining research in global education design and applied theory of collaborative learning. Acknowledging that the paradigm of learning is shifting from teacher centered to social and flexible spaces, Woods Bagot has responded with a design that incorporates the latest in design technology to secure HKUST’s place as leaders in research and development.
The design is based around a ‘thoughtscape’ concept, which encourages individuals to move freely and interact in collaborative spaces.
