House of The Year 2007 Entry from Chicago

This single family residence located in the south- west Chicago suburb, Burr Ridge IL.Is set on the 100 ft. x 400 ft. lot .That configuration of the lot resulted in the design that embraces both front and back of the property. Central location of the house is diminishing unpleasant filling of the long and narrow space.Additional design challenge was created by the owners, fascinated with modern architecture yet being extremely comfortable with so typical for Midwest upscale residential traditional look. The principle design idea was to create open, functional space inside, reflected on the outside and expressed with dynamic sculptured form . And at the same time this form had to work well with the use of the traditional materials on the outside and more traditional interior design inside.
