This Saturday, Indian born Sunand Prasad takes up his post as the new President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and becomes the first ethnic minority leader in the organsation’s 170 year history. Prasad’s London based practice Penoyre & Prasad, specializes in healthcare buildings and schools. Previously he was a commissioner with the UK Government’s Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) which, he has admitted “stole the RIBA’s thunder” with initiatives such as his design quality indicators.
