Green housing in the east end

Architects Child Graddon Lewis (CGL) and Genesis Housing Group have achieved planning permission for a new high density mixed-use development.

Located at the intersection of Limehouse Cut and Bow Common Lane, London E14, this landmark development will act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area. The design incorporates 182 new homes with a 50:50 private to social housing mix plus business start-up units arranged across three buildings ranging from 5 to 13 storeys, designed to enhance connections in the area and accessibility to green space and the waterside. Planning issues included landscaping, daylighting, flood impact assessments and sustainability.CGL's proposals met with an extremely positive response from GLA and Tower Hamlets development officers with one Councillor commenting that it was the best residential scheme he had seen. Under the framework agreement in place between Genesis and its partnership constructor, Durkan Limited, work on site will commence immediately with completion set for spring 2009.
