New museum for Boston waterfront

Designed Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the building features a dramatic folding ribbon form and a cantilever that extends to the water’s edge, providing a bold presence for the ICA and symbolizing the museum’s commitment to contemporary art and design.The new museum features a façade of translucent glass, wood and metal, the galleries are flexible and column free, with moveable walls, concrete floors and high ceilings. An expansive adjustable skylight system will allow natural light in evenly. The Mediatheque will provide a stunning perspective of the water,A performing arts theatre with 325 seats will feature walls glazed in clear glass, allowing the harbour views to become the stage backdrop and a 140-square-foot glass elevator allows for views of the harbour The museum is due to open in September.
