Sailing dome in Shanghai

22 November 2005 Sport in architecture

In conjunction with the Expo 2010 in Shanghai in cooperation with Schlaich Bergermann und Partner, HPC Hamburg and Koerting Ingenieur Hamburg, a Sailing Dome was proposed as an apparent symbol and a start-up for the development in the future. By the construction of such a great outstanding hall (600 m length and 350 m width) and a 300 m high tower, an enduring emblem is created and the area becomes an international, national and local point of attraction for the city of Shanghai. Because of its high leisure quality, the building is able to elate a new audience for sailing and can provide the environment with the necessary facilities.
