Publicly Accessible Buildings

Stirling Prize shortlist for Miralles

13 October 2005
Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue’s Scottish Parliament Building has been mired in controversy during its construction but has emerged as a highly acclaimed piece of architecture. Sadly Miralles did not survive to see the full realisation of his vision but the shortlisting for the UK’s Stirling Prize will be a fitting tribute. Miralles, “We hope that from this emerges a series of identifications between the building and the land, land and citizens, citizens and the building, not just because of an ‘image’, but physically shaping the act of sitting together.”
